WRINKLE-RELAXING INJECTIONS

The content used in the high street anti-wrinkle injections are essentially a purified form of B-toxins obtained from bacteria. In large quantities, the material can be dangerous, however, regulated amounts of it are proven to correct wrinkles as used for decades.

The wrinkle-correcting injections function through blocking the nerve signals in the muscles at the location of injection. Temporary muscle paralysis is achieved as a result of the nerve signal interruption which consequently leads to the softening, reduction and even removal of facial wrinkles due to the lack of muscular movement in the face. Such treatments made with the B-toxin are sometimes called neuromodulators or neurotoxins.

What to expect

This treatment only works on wrinkles that are caused by muscle movement (or dynamic winkles) as the treatment only relaxes the movement of muscles. Upper face lines or wrinkles are amongst the most commonly treated areas, such as the "11" between the brows, horizontal or even diagonal lines on the forehead, and “crow's feet” around the eyes. Facial expressions (such as smiling, squinting, frowning etc) are what cause such wrinkles on the face. However, lines and wrinkles caused by skin sagging & loss of plumpness cannot be corrected by muscle-relaxing injections.

Prolonged effects of wrinkle-correcting injections as a temporary treatment option require renewing about 2-3 times a year for consistent results. Usually, the duration of this treatment is reported to be approximately 3-6 months, but this can vary from individual to individual.

The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons BAAPS considers such injections to be a safe procedure that is conducted without the need for anaesthesia.

EXESSIVE SWEATING

Additionally, we treat Hyperhidrosis (i.e. excessive sweating) in which body's excess

thyroid hormones circulate through the blood causing a pronounced acceleration in

bodily chemical reactions resulting in uncontrollable sweating. As part of our non-surgical

procedures available, we offer armpit injections to significantly reduce the excessive

sweating symptom.

Botox injections (usually 15-20) are administered to the affected area (such as armpits etc) that serve to block the signals from the brain to the sweat glands triggering...

DERMAL FILLERS

Dermal fillers also known as soft tissue fillers are a non-invasive rejuvenation treatment option are generally injected underneath the surface of the skin to in order to add volume and fullness.

A liquid substance is injected into target areas such as the lips, the cheeks, and beneath the eyes. Injections will then almost immediately hydrate and lift the soft tissue which will then consequently give the skin a natural, fresh and youthful look.

What to expect

Dermal fillers are known to reduce the apparent signs of aging. To maintain a youthful skin with significantly less prominent wrinkles, multiple injections are advised to be maintained in a year. It is important to note that dermal fillers do not remove skin sagging. Dermal fillers are best used in conjunction with wrinkle-relaxing injections.

MORE ABOUT DERMAL FILLERS

There are several substances commonly used in dermal fillers including:

  • Hyaluronic acid: These are resorbable fillers made with stabilized hyaluronic acid, obtained through a biochemical process and without animal origin, between them we can find: Q-Med, Juvéderm (Allergan), Fortelis, Esthelis, Mesolis (Anteis), Glytone (Pierre Fabre).

  • Polyalkylimide: This is a non-resorbable filler contained in Aquamid (Contura Int.), consisting in a solution of water and 2,5% polyacrylamide. The effects are permanent and long lasting.

  • Calcium hydroxylapatite: Contained in Radiesse (BioForm Medical Inc.) composed of synthetically produced smooth calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) micro-spheres suspended in a gel carrier. Hydroxylapatite is a natural component of human bones, and the synthetic form it's used in different biomedical applications like prosthetic implants. The form contained in dermal fillers is resorbable through time and can stimulate some degree of collagen production where was injected.

  • Polylactic acid: Contained in Sanofi-Aventis, it's also contained in some suture materials for surgery, it's slowly reabsorbed and degraded by the body, being replaced in some degree by collagen.

Which all in a way or another rejuvenate the skin through adding plumpness and levelling out skin surfaces.  The lasting effects of dermal filler in comparison to other injectables is relatively longer. Reports indicate effects of up to 2 years have been experienced by patients.
